The area to be treated should be free from make-up, perfume and body or face creams.
It is a pre-condition that there should be no active tan. The use of sunbeds, or exposure to strong sunlight must be avoided for three weeks prior to treatment. Suntans must be left to fade before treatment can start. Fake tan must not be applied for 2 weeks prior to treatment. Ensure that you will not be exposed to the sun or sun beds within 6 weeks of treatment.
We reserve the right to charge for any appointment booked but abandoned due to active sun tan/Self tan.
A medical history, and your consent, is taken before treatment can commence but we rely on you to inform us of any changes to this. We need to know of any medication you are taking including those bought from a chemist or herbalist. Please make sure that you arrive in good time for your appointment; this will allow us to pre-cool the skin if this should be required.
Post Treatment Advice
There may be slight redness at the treatment site which should normally disappear after a few days. There may be temporary darkening of the veins or bruising to the site – this is normal and will resolve in time.
Homecare – Once you are home:
You should apply Aloe Vera gel at least 3 times per day and more often if possible. This will help the area to settle. Care should be taken with the treatment area for 4 or 5 days afterwards. Avoid strenuous activities which may cause trauma.
If blistering occurs keep the area clean and dry. Do not deliberately burst the blisters. A dry dressing may be applied if required. Accidental or deliberate removal of scabs may result in indentation of the skin.
Take cool showers rather than hot baths. The skin should be patted dry and not rubbed.
Exposure to sun or sun beds, or the use of self tanning products must be avoided for 6 weeks. Use a sunscreen (the best, broad spectrum type available can be purchased from the salon) and protect the area from sunlight. Failure to do this can lead to sunburn and hyper-pigmentation of the treated area.
If the skin is not sore or broken, makeup can be applied after 24 hours. However, we advise caution if the area is sensitive or dry. Remove makeup carefully as rubbing the skin can cause irritation or infection.
Avoid oils, perfumed products, AHA’s, chemical product and swimming for 5 days.
It can take up to 2 months for the final results to be appreciated, during which time a constant improvement will be noticed. Any remaining veins after this period of time will require further treatment but this can only be carried out after 2 months.
Call the salon immediately if you are concerned in any way about the treated area, especially if you think that the area may have become infected.
