LED TECHNICAL DETAIL – WAVELENGTHS USED
 
Yellow Light (590NM)
Yellow light is used at the beginning of all of our rejuvenation treatments for 60 seconds. It doesn’t penetrate well, and doesn’t stimulate the skin’s cells to produce collagen, instead it pre-conditions, treats and excites the outermost layer of skin (keratinocytes) and epidermal cells, ensuring maximum benefit is gained from the delivery of the more powerful 830nm (Near Infrared Light) used for the following 10 minutes.
The 590nm (yellow) and 830nm (near-infrared) light treats the epidermal cells, a key area in the visible improvement of the skin, resulting in a smoother, more luminous complexion.
The use of yellow light is patented technology and is exclusive to the Healite II. This process is called photosequencing.
Near Infrared (830NM)
Near-infrared light has a longer wavelength and therefore differs from red light as it’s able to penetrate deeper into the skin: the near-infrared wavelength of 830nm up to 15cm into the body, compared to the 8cm of the 633nm wavelength red light. Whilst both give fantastic results, medical research shows that near-infrared achieves superior and longer lasting benefits.
Both wavelengths can treat all skin types, including dark and sensitive.
Near-infrared is a non-invasive treatment which energises and restores damaged and compromised cells and creates new cells, encouraging our bodies to produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid more efficiently and effectively.
The increased production of collagen and elastin results in much denser elastic fibres, a thicker epidermis and stratum corneum (the outermost skin cells) which improve the lifting effect, and plumper and more active fibroblasts (the main connective tissue cells present in the body) surrounded by strong and organised collagen. It also replenishes and renews hyaluronic acid, hydrating the skin immediately.
830nm light accelerates the healing process of wounds and surgery following any medical or cosmetic procedure and can help improve the appearance of existing scars and prevent the formation of new scars. It can also reduce pain, bruising and inflammation post-laser treatment, and repair and renew damaged and compromised cells (or creates new cells if there is a deficiency).
A damaged or compromised cell is 250% more active and effective once treated by light therapy.
Near-infrared helps to stabilise abnormal conditions in the skin such as dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis, increases blood flow and lymph drainage, speeds the removal of toxins, and delivers oxygen and nutrients to the skin which benefits cell growth.
Due to its longer wavelength, near-infrared light can penetrate bone and muscle, and is therefore highly beneficial in improving the structure of the face, increasing bone density, strength and thickness, particularly around the eye sockets which naturally get larger with age, causing sunken eyes and sagging skin.
Blue Light (415NM)
Blue light is used in conjunction with near infrared (830nm) for adolescent and adult acne, and acne scar treatments. From mild to severe acne, acne scars, and skin maintenance for acne, LED facials can be very effective.
A recommended treatment programme consists of 8 LED facials, alternating between blue and near-infrared, 48-72 hours apart over a 4 week period, with maintenance treatments recommended following the completion of the programme.
However, our treatment programmes can be adapted according to the severity of the acne; for example, someone with mild acne would benefit from increased near-infrared facials within the programme.

A continuous regular programme of one treatment a week would benefit both the skin and the body generally.

No, it will stimulate healthy cells, increasing their effectiveness in the fight against damaged cells.
LED therapy not only stimulates skin cells, it also works on the lymphatic system and drainage, therefore helping to rid the body of toxins.
CAN LED BE USED WHILST UNDERGOING CANCER TREATMENT?
If undergoing a course of chemotherapy it is advised to wait until the cancer treatment is complete before carrying out LED therapy, unless specifically requested by the clients oncologist.
Those post-cancer, or with cancer and not in the middle of treatment, can take advantage of the multiple benefits of LED therapy.
CAN LED THERAPY HELP WITH PAIN MANAGEMENT?
Yes, there have been amazing results for pain management; any chronic or intermittent pain, ear ache, toothache, tendon/muscle pain, or arthritis.
LED treatment increases blood flow round the body and has a systemic effect on cells, sending nutrients to our organs and increasing cellular energy levels which tend to deteriorate with age.
Of course, we won’t be focusing on the LED therapy for pain management, but it’s worth noting that a recommended protocol would be 3 treatments in the first week, followed by 2 treatments per week until the pain diminishes.

The Power Nap / ‘Me Time’/Winter SAD
The deeply relaxing nature of our light treatments often causes you to drift off to sleep.
It has been proven that even short naps of six minutes (not counting the average time of five minutes it takes to fall asleep) make a difference in how well people retain information. This timeframe fits perfectly into our 15-minute treatment period.
Power naps of 6 and 10 minutes restore wakefulness and promote performance and learning. Although a short nap won’t completely reset the body clock, it can prolong the time before tiredness sets in again.
